Frideres Chiropractic Clinic provides natural, non-invasive back pain treatment in Nevada, Iowa for patients in Story County and nearby communities including Ames, Story City, Colo, Maxwell, Huxley, Roland, Cambridge, Collins, McCallsburg, Kelley, Gilbert, Slater, and Zearing.

What causes back pain?

Back pain can come from muscles, joints, spinal discs, nerves, posture, daily stress, or injury. Some pain starts suddenly after lifting, twisting, sports, yard work, or a car accident. Other back pain builds slowly from sitting, repetitive work, poor posture, pregnancy, or long-term spinal imbalance.

Common causes of back pain include:

  • Lower back strain

  • Disc bulges or herniated discs

  • Sciatica or nerve irritation

  • Subluxations and spinal misalignments

  • Muscle spasms and trigger points

  • Tendon or ligament strains

  • Arthritis-related stiffness

  • Pregnancy-related back and pelvic pain

  • Poor posture from desk work or driving

  • Sports, work, or auto accident injuries

Frideres Chiropractic evaluates your symptoms and spinal function to determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate. When symptoms suggest a condition outside chiropractic care, the clinic can refer you to the right healthcare provider.

How does chiropractic care help back pain?

Chiropractic care helps back pain by improving how the spine, joints, muscles, and nervous system work together. When spinal joints are restricted or irritated, nearby muscles may tighten and nerves may become more sensitive. Chiropractic adjustments are used to restore motion, reduce mechanical stress, and support better function.

At Frideres Chiropractic Clinic, back pain care may include:

  • Chiropractic adjustments

  • Spinal alignment correction

  • Soft tissue therapy

  • Therapeutic stretching

  • Strengthening exercises

  • Posture and ergonomic guidance

  • Pregnancy-safe chiropractic techniques when appropriate

  • Conservative care for disc-related pain and sciatica symptoms

The goal is not just short-term backache relief. The goal is to help you move better, feel better, and reduce the chance of recurring pain.

Who should see a chiropractor for back pain?

You may benefit from seeing a chiropractor for back pain if pain is limiting your movement, interfering with sleep, making work difficult, or returning repeatedly.

Patients often visit Frideres Chiropractic for:

  • Back pain after lifting or bending

  • Sciatica pain traveling into the hip, buttock, or leg

  • Back pain from sitting at a desk or driving

  • Disc bulge or herniated disc symptoms

  • Pregnancy-related lower back pain

  • Sports injury back pain

  • Muscle spasms or stiffness

  • Chronic back pain that keeps coming back

Seek urgent medical care first if you have back pain with loss of bladder or bowel control, fever, unexplained weight loss, major trauma, progressive leg weakness, or numbness in the groin area.

What back pain conditions does Frideres Chiropractic treat?

Frideres Chiropractic Clinic provides conservative chiropractic care for many common mechanical back pain conditions, including:

  • Lower back pain

  • Upper back pain

  • Mid-back pain

  • Disc bulges and disc protrusions

  • Herniated or ruptured disc symptoms

  • Subluxations and spinal misalignments

  • Muscle sprains and ligament strains

  • Stress-related back tension

  • Pregnancy-related back pain

  • Sciatica-like symptoms

  • Postural back pain

  • Sports and activity-related back injuries

What should patients expect at Frideres Chiropractic Clinic?

Your first visit starts with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, activity level, and goals. Dr. Mark Frideres evaluates how your spine and body are moving, what may be contributing to your pain, and whether chiropractic care is a good fit.

A back pain visit may include:

  • Consultation and symptom review

  • Posture and spinal movement assessment

  • Chiropractic exam

  • Explanation of findings

  • Personalized care recommendations

  • Gentle chiropractic adjustment when appropriate

  • At-home guidance for movement, posture, or stretching

Pregnancy-Related Back Pain

Pregnancy can place extra stress on the lower back, hips, pelvis, and surrounding muscles as the body changes to support a growing baby. Many expecting mothers experience lower back pain, pelvic discomfort, sciatica-like symptoms, or increased tension from posture and weight distribution changes.

Frideres Chiropractic Clinic provides gentle, pregnancy-conscious chiropractic care focused on comfort, mobility, and spinal function. Prenatal chiropractic care may help reduce mechanical stress, improve movement, and support a more comfortable pregnancy. If you are pregnant and dealing with back pain near Nevada, Ames, or in Story County, our team can help determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your needs.

Testimonials

"I have suffered migraines for years. I still do, but if I have Dr. Frideres give me an adjustment at early onset of the pain, the pain subsides almost immediately without having to take the doctor prescribed migraine medicine that makes me feel almost just as awful as the migraine. Thank you Dr. Fideres! You help me to keep up with my busy family and lifestyle."
